Why Don’t Many Companies Hire California Residents?
So why is there even an issue to begin with?
There could be a a number of reasons why companies choose not to hire virtual based agents out of California.
Tough Labor Laws: Working as Independent Contractor can sometimes get into a grey area that can cause some legal issue that are risky. California has some pretty tough laws.
High Minimum Wage: States with high minimum wage laws, California is currently higher than average at 10/hour, are often passed over if the minimum wage is higher than the rate they want to pay.
Cost to Register: Companies must register in the states they have a business presence. Therefore, some companies may pick and choose which states they choose to register in. California may be more expensive than others.

No, Doordash does hire in CA. I live in the Bay Area and I order from Doordash all the time! GrubHub too! I agree, I have NEVER seen Postmates around here. I am in the Oakland/Hayward area.

Add Gaggle and Oasis Marketing Solutions
Once again remove DoorDash and Postmates unless you want to be food delivery.
PostMates disbanded their US order placers this past February 2017.
DoorDash just released 300+ US order placers a week ago (July 2017) and those of us still working are barely getting any orders – both have outsourced overseas.
