Do you prefer text chatting versus over-the-phone interactions?

Do you have excellent written communication skills?

Well, then becoming a chat agent at MyLivePro.com might be the work-at-home job for you.

What Exactly is MyLivePro?

MyLivePro is an online chat service offering five different chat plans to website owners.  We have all been online at one time or another reading a website or blog and a chat box popped up asking us if we needed assistance.  Hence, this would be your work-at-home job as a chat agent should you be selected.

MyLivePro prides itself on offering a flexible, part-time schedule in a fun yet cutting-edge industry.  They also mention the thoroughness of their training on their website.

What Are the Basic Requirements for Working at MyLivePro?

While MyLivePro does have legal requirements in compliance with state and federal laws, they are also looking for a variety of soft skills as well.  To work there, you:

  • must be over 18 years old.
  • legally permitted to work in the US.
  • reside in the continental US (not Alaska or Hawaii).
  • be able to pass a background check.
  • be reliable and flexible.
  • must be current with paying your taxes.
  • must be detail-oriented and offer superior customer service.
  • should possess good self-management and motivational skills.
  • have the ability to use common sense and make on-the-spot decisions.
  • must have an understanding of general business operations and resources.

What Special Skills Do You Need?

Previous call center experience or chat experience is a plus, but not necessary.  You will need to be able to:

  • answer and respond to text chats from live website visitors.
  • promptly research and resolve visitor requests.
  • project a professional company image while engaging in text chat.
  • provide website visitors with client’s products and service information.
  • promote clients’ products and services via chat dialogue.
  • categorize and assign chat sessions.
  • recommend improvements in procedures or job.
  • research things thoroughly.

What Are the Computer/Home Office Requirements?

Outside of having an updated computer with high-speed Internet with anti-virus and anti-malware protection, you will need:

  • professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to type 30 wpm.
  • DSL or Cable Modem connection to the Internet.
  • a PC monitor capable of displaying at least 1024 X 768 pixels.
  • a sound card installed with speakers or headphones.
  • a PC based workstation with 2 GB memory, the ability to run Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 or higher, and the latest edition of Firefox.

What Are the Hours and Pay?

While the hours are not 24/7, some clients do have extended hours.   So sometimes you can work up until 9 p.m. EST.  The pay really varies based on experience.  However, most agents that I have talked to did say that it was commensurate with what other chat-type jobs pay, which is $8 to $15 an hour.

Are You an Independent Contractor or an Employee at MyLivePro?

You are a part-time employee at MyLivePro.  Because you are part-time, you will not have a full benefits package as a full-time employee would have.  From what I am finding out, there are paid vacation days available, but not much else.

What is My Overall Impression?

It looks like a great company to work for as a chat agent.  The time I spent on their website and the interaction that I had with their chat agents was an exceptional experience in customer service.

Pros and Cons MyLivePro

Pros of MyLivePro

1. Improved Customer Service: MyLivePro, like many live chat solutions, allows businesses to respond to customer queries in real time. This can significantly improve customer satisfaction and increase customer loyalty.

2. Lead Generation: Live chat solutions can often contribute to increased sales. The immediate interaction allows businesses to capture leads and convert them into sales effectively.

3. 24/7 Availability: MyLivePro, if operated round the clock, can provide businesses with a 24/7 presence, enabling them to interact with customers outside traditional business hours.

4. Multitasking Capabilities: Live chat enables customer service representatives to handle multiple queries at once, something not usually possible with phone support.

Cons of MyLivePro

1. Limited Personal Interaction: While live chat solutions can offer real-time responses, they can lack the personal touch that face-to-face or voice interactions can provide.

2. Technical Issues: Like any other online platform, MyLivePro may encounter technical glitches or downtime that could impact the business.

3. Training Requirements: Staff may need training to use the platform effectively. This can add to the cost and time investment for the business.

4. Dependence on Internet Connection: The effectiveness of a live chat solution like MyLivePro is directly tied to the quality of the Internet connection on both ends. A poor connection could lead to subpar customer service.

How Can an Interested Applicant Apply to MyLivePro?

Go to their website and apply.  You should see a message under Upcoming Opportunities if there are any openings.

Good luck to all those who apply.

Interesting, they say all positions filled, but I’ll keep watch on the site for the next openings. Thanks.

@Angel – Hey, girl! Good to hear from you! Yes, MyLivePro is great when they have openings. Yes, GBS Virtual Office is rockin’ these days. I recently became a coach to add to the mix, and it’s rockin’! Thanks for asking.

I am very interested in this job as I have all of the skills necessary. I Have noticed that the positions are all closed. I sent them a message on Facebook, and received a rather curt reply that they posed four or five times a year on Facebook and job boards. Okay, that’s fine, but I’m not really sure how to keep abreast of these postings. My passions are research and comparison-shopping, but I really don’t feel comfortable talking on the phone, chat is ideal. Are there similar sites to MyLivePro? I tried applying at Zirtual and that was a fiasco. 🙁 Leisa, would your company be able to help me find a job in the virtual arena involving research?

I am really disappointed to receive an email for a very interesting job offer posted only to find out ALL positions full. Obviously they knew they were full when it was posted.
Many of us are struggling and have special needs or disabilities that keep us at home. It is very difficult to find a legitimate home job at all.

Oh well I will continue looking and praying the right job opens for me.

Best regards n happy hunting

I am sorry Lynn to have gotten your hopes up. I can imagine how disappointing that had to have been for you. Unfortunately this was never intended to be a job posting but an insight to a company that offers this type of position from time to time. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on them so you can catch their next opening. I will also be praying for the right job opening to come your way. Don’t give up!!

It’s not so much that the jobs are currently full, it’s the fact that the company says that the demand is high and they post four or five times a year. Maybe I’m not good with the technology, but is there a way to find out when they post the job? I would spend more time looking to figure out if they’ve posted a job then finding other jobs, if that makes any sense. I agree with Lynn about the frustration though, I am one with a disability and over 80% of blind people are unemployed. I’m not saying that a home-based job is the be-all and end-all of work but my partner is also disabled and so both of us working from home is ideal in case the other needs help. Does anybody know of any other jobs like this one where you can chat and help people find things?

Have you checked out working for FETCH? They have a chat based program where you help people find products they want, there is an hourly rate. Like MyLivePro though, there is a good chance they are not hiring at the time. They post to Craigslist so I search on Adhuntr.com once in a while for any new openings. However, if you download their smartphone app, in the FAQ section it says to email [email protected] if you are interested in joining the Fetch team.

Former MyLivePro Agent

March 5, 2015 at 7:34 am

I worked as a contractor for this company about 4 years ago, and unless the pay structure has changed, I was making $7.25 an hour, plus $0.40 commission for each initial chat interaction. I frequently had issues receiving my pay on time as there was no option for direct deposit and there were several incidents regarding payroll. The schedule was flexible and I started off averaging between 20-28 hours a week. I decided to quit because my hours had been reduced to 6-8 per week. Any time that I took of was not paid and neither were holidays, so that’s something new. Aside from those issues, the company was great to work for. The business is family owned and run and the owners were down to Earth. The culture is family oriented and family friendly. Honestly, positions are almost never open. I lucked up and stumbled upon their website at a time when there was ONE position available and only 1 or 2 other agents were hired during the 2 1/2 years I worked there.

@Former MyLivePro Chat Agent – Thanks for sharing. Always good to hear from former workers as well as current ones. I understand some things have changed a bit. I have private clients and one WAH job as an IC. Funny, I have been there for almost 8 years (don’t work much anymore!), buy you would not believe all of the changes in 8 years. Some things changed and changed back.

One thing for certain. In the WAH world, nothing stays the same. LOL

Again, thanks for sharing.
