When many people first begin their search for home based work they can do online they think Data Entry. It is also one of the reasons so many home based job seekers turn up empty-handed. After months of seeking working from home data entry jobs many only find scams and rip offs. However, there are a few very legit data entry companies. One of which, Great American Opportunity, hires annually for seasonal projects.

It was after reading online I learned they are in fact hiring this June 1st-15th. This round of hiring is for a project beginning August 1st and running through December.  Just be aware there are thousands of people eager to land this job so apply ASAP and then cross all your fingers and toes!

Who is Great American Opportunity?

Great American Opportunity is also commonly referred to as GAO. The company is all about fundraising. They mostly handle money-raising projects for schools and non-profit organizations. You are probably familiar with either your own kid’s or your neighbor’s who show up at your door with an order-form for magazines or a box of full of  candy bars they are selling to raise money for an event. Great American Opportunity hires people to work from home completing data entry work by submitting content that is handwritten on order forms.

How Much Do they Pay?

The pay at GAO is not based on hours worked but per piece. Therefore, the faster you can submit the information, the more money you will make. It is not publicly shared what the rate of pay actually is. However, there have been reports of people averaging around $10/hour. They pay every week and payment is sent through direct deposit.

Does it Cost Anything to Work for Great American Opportunity?

No! Never, under any circumstances should you pay for Data Entry work. GAO does not charge anything for you to work for them. This is because they are a legit company. No matter how much money a company is asking for, do not pay it. Many will try to lure you in by claiming the cost is only  a few bucks. However, if you read the terms and conditions you will most likely find a recurring monthly charge that is difficult to remove. Great American Opportunity is not a scam. Most people who have done work for GAO are very happy and excited for the next project.

Is the Work Stable?

This job position is seasonal. Do not rely on it too heavily. You never know if you will get a position each season and when projects wind down they die out completely before returning again. Take it as a bonus way to make extra money a few months out of the year, and even then, only if you are lucky.

How is the Scheduling?

From what I can understand there is not a schedule. You simply log in when you are ready to work. However, you may log in to find there is no work. The work queue is loaded regularly and when it runs out many sit and wait for more work to load and toward the end of the season it dies out.

How Can I Learn More and Apply for Data Entry Work?

Email at [email protected] and simply express your interest in the Data Entry positions and include your full name, address and phone number. Good luck!!

It is so rare you hear about legit data entry. I suspect they will be bombarded.

I am sure they are going to have a significant amount of email to wade through over the next few days. LOL! I have looked at this company in the past, always have great reviews. I have years of data entry experience so I think I am going to go ahead and give it a go. Nothing to lose. Thanks for the heads up!

What a great way to pick up extra money! I’m thinking that when I am feeling uninspired with writing it will be a great way to still pick up work and keep the daily goals. When I first thought of working online for a living, I tried to find legit data entry and couldn’t find anything decent to apply for. This is worth applying for. Thanks!

*sigh* I did not pass the test. I thought I did ok but I have little to no experience with data entry. I rekeyed too many times. Good luck to everyone else. ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t pass either and I have data entry experience! I had 4 rekey mismatches and the max is 3. Oh well.

They responded quickly though, which was nice!

Will they correspond with us via email? We’ve recently downsized and do not have a telephone, only internet with AT&T. Thanks for the lead. =]

The first time I tried I got an email stating they would be accepting apps January 1-15 so I set my calendar to remind me and literally sent my email at 12:39 am on 1/1/13.

Passed the test and received an email that I’m now on a waiting list and when a position comes open I will be asked to work. So now it’s a waiting game, I’m super excited about it, surprisingly I find data entry relaxing… lol… I’ll keep you up to date!.

It is alpha and numeric. I did want to give an update, they sent me an email stating they had openings and since I passed the test I was being considered. I’ll let you know what happens afterwards ๐Ÿ˜€

Okay so I’ve completed my first week. The work is just like the tests and is exactly as stated. If the orders aren’t there, you could sit there waiting for more. So far so good but not steady. So it’s an awesome filler to my regular at home work that I can do when the rest of the gang is home and a nice little bonus but I was on a 2 year waiting list, so far I think it was worth the wait. I hope I can maintain the job.

Just to let everyone know I took the test and passed back in June 2012, they informed me that I had been placed on a waiting list and that when there was a position available they would contact me. I had sent an email then asking when they were expecting to have openings, they told me 2013.

I have not been contacted yet but have sent another email tonight asking for an update and to let them know I was still interested.

Yea, good luck passing their test. I was excited to apply at this company thinking it would be a great work from home job only to have them reject me…..

I’ve worked for VirtualBee (formerly KeyForCash) since 2011 and do get paid after ea $30. They write ck every Tues, takes about 2 wks to get, but they are talking of getting direct dep. in near future. Nice co., legit!! Another one I just started for and already got paid, is http://www.MEGATYPERS.com which pays directly to your paypal after only $3 earned! No fees upfront, I don’t believe in those kind of companies anyways. Go to http://www.MEGATYPERS.com/register and for “enter invitation code” use 8798 or 8799 or 879K. Any of these should work! They did for me, I was surprised, as you do have to beware, many of these sites are scams. Never pay fees or believe unrealistic promises about salaries you can make, but do believe there still are some legit companies out there! GOOD LUCK!

Does GAO ever contact you by phone, or only by email?

Hello,

I’ve been hearing about this company recently and just took the qualification test. I do have a few questions though.

Is it possible to find out the piece rate? Or is that considered confidential information? I wanted to get an idea of the earning potential based on my qualification speed (have been seeing ~$10/hr, but that may be for an average typer.)

Also does anyone know if the waitlist is still 2 years or more? I was hoping to get hired sooner than that if possible.

Thanks!
