Sedgwick CMS- BEST benefits I have seen! (Phone Job)

Updated on: by Amy Kennedy

What Is Sedgwick CMS?

Sedgwick offers Claims Managements Services (CMS) for their clients. Their agents are responsible for a variety of duties all in part to assist with filing claims for their customers. Sedgwick is a growing company and is well known for being one of the best places to work. They offer an extremely healthy benefits package (including insurance on day one!) and have received many awards, including an Employers Choice Award!

What Is it Like Working For Sedgwick?

Sedgwick Customer Service agents handle filing claims through a variety of tasks. There are several job types but majority, if not all, of the home based positions are phone related (see the benefits section and learn how Sedgwick pays for your phone/internet expenses). There is a two week training course that is offered remotely for the work at home agents. Many employees do claim that they feel lost and confused when first beginning their career at Sedgwick but quickly adapt and settle in.

Do They Higher as Employee or Independent Contractor?

Sedgwick CMS hires Employee based instead of Independent Contractors. This is great for anyone who needs more stability and would like their taxes withheld from their check and not run as high of a risk of owing big next April!

What Is The Pay Like?

While I am still waiting for a confirmation on the pay at Sedgwick, I have discovered the pay is above $10/hour. When I do learn of the exact range I will be sure to update this. I have read from many people that the pay is excellent but I believe a disclosure must be preventing people from posting it on any open forums.

What Are The Benefits?

Sedgewick offers some of the best benefits I have seen in a home based company!
Their health insurance plans begins on day ONE of employment!!! I don’t even see that in regular brick and mortar companies very often! And it includes Medical, Dental and Vision! Others claim the employee cost is extremely reasonable and the deductible is low. Sedgwick also offers PAID time off, short term and long term disability, 401k with employer matching a percentage!, life insurance and educational assistance.
In addition to these great benefits Sedgewick even reimburses you up to $75 a month for your phone and internet expenses! Someone in a work at home forum claims Sedgwick also provides you with a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and phone. But I was not able to confirm that from the Sedgwick site.

What Are The Requirements?

The Customer Service position with Sedgwick requires a high school degree or GED and one year of either customer service OR clerical work.
Sedgwick is also looking for someone who can represent Sedgwick well with excellent communication and customer service skills.

How Flexible is Sedgwick’s Scheduling?

Not very flexible. When you apply you are applying for a certain schedule. My understanding is that if you would like to change your schedule you can “bid” for a new one when they open up the opportunity about every six months or so. One downside to being an employee versus an independent contractor is that you lose a lot of your control over when you will work or how many hours to put in. But on the plus side, you have a set schedule and you know and can depend and rely on a certain number of hours every week.

What Do Others Say About Working For Sedgwick?

NO Christian person would knowingly want to participate in what this company does! Please check reviews carefully as no benefits package is worth hurting suffering human beings. How awful! Do not recommend anyone to this company for ANY reason!

I agree with Bailey! It sounds fab, for those that don't mind the phones. I did my time with West and LiveOps. While I did not mind West, LO infomercial line ruined my life. LOL, not really, but I pretty much swore off all phone jobs!

This sounds really good! I am so impressed that there are so many home jobs that now offer benefits. I so much wish they all did – that's one of the only downsides to doing things from home. But it looks like more and more companies are starting to offer them.

Just had an interview with Sedgwick the offering pay is great, work seems easy enough, and everything such as the equipment is true. There are alot worse hobs out there (work from home) that pay way less and expect much more.

If you call yourself a Christian, and you practice, you would never consider working for the bottom of the barrel!
Any per on who profits from one’s pain is a coward.
The claim rep I have has no heart or compassion for injured people.
My question to these programed robots, would you deny medication to your mother, father or someone you care for???
Its bad enough you don;t get sleep due to chronic pain, then every month you get prior authorization needed for the same medications you have been prescribed for years. Every month they pull some B.S. out of there hat why you are denied . Most of these punks have not lived long enough to know what real work is.
God Bless them, when they meet there maker they will have to answer for all there wrong doings here on earth!

Sedgwick has nothing to do with medication authorizations, however they require that, for STD, you show an attempt to return to work. This means, if current treatment is not working (ie you haven’t returned to work), that this be changed, even if the MD thinks that the treatment is working, just taking longer than normal. Either that or there should be PHYSICAL evidence, to support. Although this is bogus too…

They are the worst call centers I have worked at. They treat you like shit. Also, they have a resource that they call an “Assist Line”, where people can “help” you through tougher questions with employees (the people who generally call in). This “Assist Line” has people whom don’t know what they are doing. I have been wrote-up for things that this “Assist Line” has told me. The assist line people never get reprimanded. Also, the examiners (people who you are the liaison to), never get reprimanded either. The examiners (most, but not all) are mean and don’t help these employees. Basically, your job is being a glorified answering service for people whom are confused and mad that they can’t get their money. You receive a lot of training, none of which helps to soften the blow of the upset employees. You are given loads of information that you can’t tell the employees. You are required to talk in circles until they give up. There are many times that I wanted to help out the employees, but couldn’t, cause the rules and regulations (which are many), prevent you from doing so. I hated this job, because I like helping people. This should NOT be listed as a customer service job, rather customer necessity. If you have worked for Walmart, Starbucks, Kohls, General Mills, Comcast, Delta Airlines, Apple, Sisters of St. Francis Hospitals(Franciscan alliance), ConAgra, Sun Trust Banks, Childerns hospitals of Wisconsin, e-bay, LabCorp, etc.(a lot of large companies) and haven’t received benefits, it is probably because the person on the other end of the line was prevented in telling you this information, most likely because Sedgwick doesn’t do anything they aren’t specifically paid to do. Also, those who train you, don’t know how to do your job or weren’t properly trained their selves(yeah, doesn’t make sense, does it?). I had a team lead that was so uninformed, every question I asked, she had to run across the call center to relay the questions. Finally, the QAs (monitorings) are not standardized and vary greatly from QA person to QA person. They nit-pick everything (spelling is like 10 points) and they don’t help you to learn. Overall, the company is a bureaucratic (insert curse word, cause I want this posted) that you should pray you avoid.

wages start at 12.20 and they don’t pay your entire work-from-home internet cost… only like 50$/month.

All I know is I’m sick and tired of people who are affiliated with Sedgwick spamming professional group forums as IF WE NEED TO MAKE A LOT OF MONEY! WE DON’T!
