ConnectandSell is a company which offers an online system/solution for connecting B2B (business to business) calls between sales teams at one company to potential buyers at another company.  With offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, ConnectandSell also offers time zone and language support in their platform.

The good news is ConnectandSell offers work-at-home positions for agents who are willing to train to take these outbound calls using their telephony-switching technology.  This would be an independent contractor or IC position.

What do remote agents do at ConnectandSell?

Using the ConnectandSell routing system, you would be making/receiving outbound calls and trying to get the listed contact/decision maker on the line then transferring the call to a member of the sales staff.  ConnectandSell agents never speak directly with the decision maker.  They just connect the call. This enables sales reps to spend all of their productive time presenting the product.

If the name ConnectandSell sounds vaguely familiar, it was introduced to many work-at-home agents via the LiveWork platform at another call center, LiveOps.com.  LiveOps offered the LiveWork platform to its own WAH (Work-At-Home) agents who were looking for additional work-at-home opportunities, such as writing, editing, transcriptions or other non-competing call centers.  Unfortunately, LiveWork was discontinued as of May 20, 2011, but LiveOps itself continues to thrive.

What are the equipment requirements to work for ConnectandSell?

You will need High-speed Internet and either Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows Vista.  Either a PC or laptop is fine as long as it is hardwired.

A landline phone is required as VOIP and cell phones are not allowed.  Your landline phone should NOT have any added features such as call forwarding, call waiting, and voice mail.

What are the other qualifications will you need to be considered?

  • Excellent phone etiquette
  • Proficiency in the English language
  • Professional business telephone communication skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment
  • Minimum education required: some college
  • A minimum of 1 year of administrative/secretarial experience
  • No previous call center experience is necessary

What are the workday and schedule like at ConnectandSell?

As an agent, you will log into your account and schedule yourself daily.  The hours are posted first thing in the morning.  Sometimes there is a full 8 hours available, but sometimes there are only 3 or 4 hours available.  So it will vary on “slow days”.

Hours are “office hours” in the time zone you are working, which can work out to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. if you are in the East Coast of the United States.  East coast agents are between 3 or 4 hours ahead of the rest of the country.

There are really no required hours, but they do like you to work when you can or when asked.

What is the pay like at ConnectandSell?

Payment is $9 an hour and can reach $10 or $11 an hour with the commission factored into it.  You will also receive an additional $1 for every good “connect” or lead that you generate by connecting the sales staff to the prospect.  This is why you want to make every “connect” count.

I have learned of agents making an additional $100 to $120 a month just in commission.

You will also be paid for lunches and breaks, which will be covered in training.

What is the pay schedule at ConnectandSell?

Payment is once a week via PayPal.  So you will need a PayPal account if you don’t already have one set up.

My overall impression of ConnectandSell?

I have heard a lot of good things about ConnectandSell from agents that I know work there.  Many enjoy it and say it is a low-stress, fun job.

The only drawback that I can foresee is that it may not work into a full-time position due to the daily work hour fluctuation.  However, I would say that it certainly looks like it could be a good secondary WAH job.

In WAH language, we would say “another good egg for the basket”.

Being able to make some additional money via commission is a huge factor that really makes people working for them try harder.

Forgive me for not using my real name, after reading my comment, I’m sure you’ll understand why.
I have worked for Connect and Sell for little over a year now, and I can tell you for personal experience, NO, it is NOT a good company to work for. I only wish other places were hiring right now so I can leave this stressful job, that has more punishments than perks.
There is a new system with CaS, that if you make an incorrect disposition, you are fined. The scale is 1st mistake, $10, 2nd Mistake $20, 3rd Mistake, $30 or possible termination. The problem with this new punishment program, is regardless if YOU make the mistake or even if you were TRAINED that way, you’re still docked.. What is even better is that they take it out of your Incentive pay. Basically, if you receive a call from one of the CaS Staff for an incorrect disposition, it doesn’t matter if it is your mistake, or someone elses, you will be fined for it.

The stressful part, is you not only are trained to do things correctly, but majority of your co-workers make mistake after mistake, (and you are reprimanded for them) but receive no penalties. 99% of the time these are the co-workers that live in the same area as the admins (India) so there are assumptions that because they are the Admins’ countrymen, they let them slide everytime. This is unfair.
The work itself, is a little stressful, especially at the beginning, you’re under a lot of pressure to do things correctly, and you have to do them quickly.

You can set your own hours, but are “urged” (I say that is such a nice way when I mean “forced through intimidation”) to work at least (they say 20) 40 hours a week.. Which may sound easy to some, but it is a doozy on the body.

I would not recommend working for CaS, as a matter of fact, if anyone knows any other b2b caller/agent program similar that is hiring, please contact me. I’m not fond of being an out-sourced agent for an out-sourced company.

Let it be known that I only give a negative rating to *WORKING FOR* CaS. However if you are a business, looking to make more sales, CaS is ideal (if not a little pricy, but worth the money) for that purpose.

Tiryth, thanks for sharing as I know how WAH companies can change for the good or bad. I have been at one for 5 years and have seen many, many changes. Some good. Some not so good.

So, thanks for sharing.

I have worked for CaS for the past few months and I can say it is by far the best WAH job I have ever had vs other at home call center jobs. Tiryth I’m sorry your experience was not good, currently the company does not fine the amounts you mentioned in the above post. The only penalty is you are docked is 2$ from your bonus pay for bad transfers, i.e. transferring the wrong person or hitting transfer during a recording. In my experience its pretty difficult to get a bad transfer. I can say that some procedures are a bit disorganized like some training classes started late and trainers not being up to date on all company policies when I began and their seems to be some small language barriers with the quality people. As far as scheduling, I have been able to schedule myself every week with no issues or being forced or pressured into working extra shifts, there have been anywhere from 35-40+ hours available every week. I enjoy the freedom of being able to work at home, make my own schedule and not having sell over the phone. I highly suggest this company to anyone seeking at home work.

Thanks for the comment, S. I actually never worked there, but knew a few agents who did. I understand that there have been many changes since I wrote the review. Glad it’s all been positive for you!

Notice the Date of the Reviews Because After Two Years, It SUCKS, Now

Pros: You can tell your friends that you are self-employed because you are an independent contractor, and that you call your own shots because the scheduling is so open and you are able to make bonuses based on your performance.

Cons: You are not an employee. You are an independent contractor, but you feel like an employee because you do not get the flexibility of technique and operation that a true independent contractor is entitled to by law. You are monitored in an unscheduled manner, sometimes in unknown capacities.

In order to work, you are required to lie and do strange phone response techniques with people, and you end up feeling stupid and or like a pariah doing them.

While you do receive a modest bonus for successful work, the possibility of it happening is completely random, at best, not guarantied, doubly penalized if you fail. In other words, you may get 20 chances for a bonus an hour. You may get none. But if you do get that bonus, mess up once, and you will have to get it two more times just to get back to where you were when you got it int he first place.

If you live in a state that pays more than 9$ an hour for minimum wage, they do not match it, per hour.

There is no career advancement for agents in title or for pay.

There is no real way to keep track of your bonuses. There is a way built into the system, but the first thing management will tell you is that you can’t go by that because it “doesn’t work.” Yet, it appears to go up when you achieve your bonuses and go down when you err, or at least when their clients say you err.

From what I hear, they given the best opportunities their Indian agents. The company was Indian owned, from what I understand, when I joined, and is still, for the most part Indian run.
