Updated on: June 6, 2012 By FStewart 6 Comments

Get paid to write online with Pure Content. Pure Content is a British based content mill with an office in the United States and writers all over the world. They accept writers from any country as long as English is their first language, and they offer writers the opportunity to write articles, industry news, blog posts, editorials, and infographs. Articles are generally in batches of 250 to 1000 words on related topics, while other possibilities vary. Infographs are a newer service they offer that combine researched material with visual graphics.   What … [Read more...]

Media Piston- Just Another Content Mill?

Updated on: May 29, 2012 By FStewart 9 Comments

Media Piston is a content mill like Textbroker and The Content Authority, but as anyone who works more than one content mill knows, they do not all run exactly the same. Media Piston is no different, as there are plenty of little quirks that make it somewhat unique from the rest.   How Do I Apply? You simply sign up and select areas you would like to write about. This does not bar you from writing about other topics, but it sets up your account so you can quickly see which available articles may interest you the most. There is no writing sample required to … [Read more...]

Ozio Media Review

Updated on: March 29, 2012 By FStewart 1 Comment

*Updated Post 12/31/2012- See Conclusion section for details* Ozio  Media is a content mill with a twist.  Rather than logging on and choosing a writing assignment from a work board, writers receive e-mails with batches of keywords and directions on what the client wants written in respect to those key words. When I applied to Ozio the job ad said to specify if I wanted to be a niche writer, with options for niches such as finance and computer techonology,  or a general writer. I specified the finance niche but let them know I could do general writing too. They … [Read more...]

John Gaddy Hits on Amazon’s Mturk

Updated on: March 6, 2012 By Miranda Grimm 8 Comments

Amazon has a section they call Mechanical Turk, mturk for short, which allows small businesses and individuals to post task based work (called hits) they need completed on a project basis. Then, workers (who often refer to themselves as Turkers) can complete the work at the rate set by the project poster. Amazon is the middle man, hosting the site, ensuring payments are made and helps diffuse any conflicts. Last week RealWaystoEarnMoneyOnline.com revealed some of the best mTurk Hits worth your time. I treid a few myself and I became a huge fan of the John Gaddy mturk … [Read more...]

Howtohint.com- Are They Legit?

Updated on: February 16, 2012 By FStewart 13 Comments

Howtohint.com appears to be a fairly standard online writing content mill, but with positions available for editing, title editing, and title creation in addition to writing similar to Demand Media. You can apparently hold more than one of these positions and work them at will. Seems many people are talking about Howtohint.com and many have reported a comparison to Demand Media. So is this a new titling and writing replacement company? Faith Stewart, the new writer at WAHadventures took a look at the company and some of the talk going around the web. Take a look at … [Read more...]

Valley Direct Media

Updated on: February 8, 2012 By FStewart 22 Comments

Valley Direct Media

Valley Direct Media is a content mill that works a little differently than the ones most of us are used to. Instead of choosing topics from a job board, each writer is assigned an editor who then e-mails batches of keywords to each writer. Most batches are comprised of 10 keywords, but some are less and some are more. In general, you write one 400 word article per keyword, with that keyword used once in each 100 word paragraph. That is their standard format, and most clients stick to it. There are those that have special directions however. One client always has … [Read more...]

Updated on: February 2, 2012 By Jess Weaver 53 Comments

Everyone is looking for a good freelance site nowadays. If you are following the freelance writing world closely, then you know that most “content mills” have gone down. If someone finds a suitable company to work for then the word spreads fast. I first heard about Scripted.com when I was browsing WAHM.com. A few people said that they have been accepted to write there. Of course, the writer in me wanted to go check it for myself.   What is Scripted.com? They are basically a writing company who has clients. This company hires freelancers to write for those … [Read more...]

Updated on: January 20, 2012 By Erica Martin 6 Comments

Remilon is a writing site that's different from the others. Remilon pays its writers hourly for the time they spend not only writing articles, but also researching, revising and editing their articles. I applied in December and by January 4 I got an email stating I'd been selected for the application process.  Though I ultimately didn't end up being selected to move forward after I sent in my application and test, I wanted to provide some insight about the different parts of the Remilon application.   The application consists of three sections:  The … [Read more...]

How to Write for the Yahoo! Contributor Network

Updated on: October 5, 2011 By Miranda Grimm 27 Comments

UPDATE: Yahoo Contributor Network no longer accepts contributions.   Yahoo! Contributor Network is one of the few places online that will allow you to publish what you want while giving you upfront payments as well as page view or performance pay. I love writing articles, but when it comes to writing for companies like Textbroker or The Content Authority, I struggle to find words to fill the screen on the most mundane topics. While it is a great way to make money and assure I meet my monthly goal, it is like pulling my eyelashes out trying to actually do the … [Read more...]

But writing for sites like Textbroker just leaves me with little to showcase and wondering where my hard work ends up. The idea of writing for top brands sounds very rewarding and self-satisfying. Textbroker – Writing Online Content

Updated on: December 1, 2010 By Miranda Grimm 11 Comments

Textbroker is a company I find myself referring others to the most often. It is highly flexible, quick to get started and pays fast. Textbroker Basics: Textbroker contracts with inexperienced writers as well as those who have been writing for years. Once accepted at Textbroker, agents are given … [Read more...]

Alright, this post will most likely be in two parts as I was hoping to be accepted by this company before I wrote a review on them. However, they are taking a while to get back to me.
