Christmas is just around the corner, and I know my work from home friends probably  have a lot of home business related gift ideas.  If you know someone who works from home, or if you do and are still looking for Christmas gift ideas to pass on to your friends and family,  here are a few Christmas gift ideas for people who work from home.

    • A subscription to Entrepreneur magazine – This magazine is full of information and tips for people who run their own business, and for people who are interested in starting their own business.  If you know someone who’s interested in starting their own business, or who already has their own business, this would be a great gift for them.

    • If you know someone who likes to draw or sketch, this electronic sketch pad would be a great gift.  It has a stylus that’s pressure-sensitive, so if you like to draw, your drawings will come out showing the different amounts of pressure you’ve applied to create different shades.  In addition, it includes a USB cable that you can attach to your computer and transfer your drawings and documents.
    • A portable hard drive -This is a must-have for anyone who works from home because it allows you to back up you work to the hard drive.  That way if your documents will be safe in the event your computer crashes.  It’s also a great way to transfer files from one computer to another if you want to have them on two computers – for example, if you have a desktop and a laptop, you can use the portable  hard drive to transfer your important files from your desktop to your laptop.
    • If you’re thinking of giving your home office a makeover, why not ask  your friends or family members for giftcards to places like Lowes, OfficeMax or Staples – that would be a great way to defray the cost of making over your office.
    • A bulletin board  or dry erase board is a great gift for  people who like to have their to do list right in front of them, have a place to jot down notes, or have a place to tack up pictures or important things without putting extra holes in the wall.
    • A laser mouse or bluetooth mouse is a great gift idea for the person who’s trying to reduce the number of cords on their desk, or for someone who wants a cordless mouse to use with their laptop.
    • Since many people who work from home are also trying to eat healthy,  this healthy snack gift basket could be another great idea.  It contains  healthy snacks like juice, granola bars, fruit snacks, nuts and trail mix among other things.  It’s available in three different sizes – small, medium and large, however the price shown is for the medium-size gift basket.  If you do phone work like me, however, be careful that you’re not munching while  you’re on the phone!
    • Another thing that’s  important to many people who work from home is properly maintaining their computer on the outside as well as making sure software maintenance is done on a regular basis.  Therefor another good gift idea might be a computer cleaning kit that includes screen cleaning wipes as well as compressed air to clean in between the keys on the keyboard, and also to clean the dust off the internal parts of the hard drive.
    • An Ergonomic Office Chair – As a person who spends a good chunk of the day sitting and working, comfort is a must. An ergonomic office chair would be an excellent gift. It helps ensure the right posture, reducing the risk of back pain and other discomforts associated with prolonged sitting. The chair’s adjustability lets the recipient set their preferred height and seating angle, promoting better productivity and focus.
    • Noise-Cancelling Headphones – If your work-from-home friend or family member often has to work in a noisy environment or if they’re frequently on calls and video meetings, noise-cancelling headphones could be a fantastic gift. They can help the recipient focus better on their work without being distracted by background noise. Some high-end models even offer features like superior sound quality and built-in microphones, making them great for both work and leisure use.
    • Desk Organizer – A clean, tidy desk can greatly enhance productivity. A desk organizer is a practical gift that can help keep their workspace tidy. It can hold stationery, notes, small electronics, and other office supplies in a neat and accessible manner. The recipient of this gift would surely appreciate the help in maintaining an organized workspace.
    • A Subscription to a Productivity App – There are numerous productivity apps out there that can greatly assist someone working from home. These apps range from time trackers to task management tools, note-taking apps, or even software that blocks distracting websites. Depending on their needs, a subscription to an app like Todoist, Toggl, Evernote, or Freedom could be a highly appreciated gift. This would not only be a unique present, but it could also contribute to their work efficiency and success in the long run.

These are just a few good gift ideas for people who work from home – I would be interested to hear any other ideas that my work from home friends have.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for a new laptop for Christmas. My last one mysteriously became the property of one of my daughters in college. Ha. She needed it more than I did. Here’s hoping!
