Whether you are a seasoned home based phone agent or new to the field, Customer Loyalty Concepts may be of interest to you.  While it does require a sales mentality and a close following of a written script, the hourly pay and ease of hiring process makes this an ideal fit for many seeking a way to break into the work at home field or for those ready for a guaranteed pay rate!

Who is Customer Loyalty Concepts?

Customer Loyalty Concepts, also referred to as CLC, has been in the Virtual Call Center business for at least 15 years.  CLC deals in both outbound and inbound calling in sales, customer service, telemarketing, surveys and customer retention. CLC hires only home based agents to work from the comfort of their homes where they can provide the best quality service for their clients.

Does Customer Loyalty Concepts Hire Independent Contractors or Employees?

CLC hires only Employees.  This choice by CLC means they only hire in certain states due to individual employment laws. Therefore, CLC hires only in the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon and Texas.

Does Customer Loyalty Concept Offer Benefits?

No, outside of the standard work at home benefits (no commute, flexible schedule), CLC does not offer any additional benefits- from what I can tell on their site. I am curious how this works though.  I thought all employees must be offered health insurance effective this year. However, I may be wrong on this or there is likely a way around it.

How is the Flexibility at Customer Loyalty Concepts?

CLC Employees are expected to work at least 20 hours a week. All scheduling is Monday through Friday. You choose your own schedule a week in advance.  It is very flexible but if you sign up for certain hours, you are required to work them and cannot simply release your committed schedule.

How Much Does Customer Loyalty Concepts Pay?

Depending on the campaign you hired for, the pay ranges from $8-10 per hour with added bonuses or incentives (depending on the project). Your hourly pay is only accrued for the time you are logged in for work. This means, time spent reading daily email, filling out billing forms or listening to voicemails are not paid for. While CLC considers this “the same as driving to and from work at a job outside the home” it certainly takes away from one of the perks!

CLC seems proud that they pay for training. I thought paid training was a requirement of employers..? CLC pays you for your training after you officially begin working and you must work 24 hours before training is paid.

CLC pays every other week by either a check in the mail or direct deposit (after working for at least 90 days). The forum research I have done on CLC shows that they are faithful on payments. However, I did read where there may have been a confusion or some problems with people being paid for training. I am wondering if it was as simple as not being aware there is a requirement to work 24 hours after training to receive payment or if there was a genuine problem.

Great post. This sounds like a very good tele-sales position.

I agree, if you can handle sales-based then this job would be good for those who like a steady hourly pay!

Customer Loyalty Concepts is now back in business after a short time of being inactive. The new website address is custom-loyal.com.

Thanks!

This would be a good opportunity for many, but I definitely couldn’t handle sales. I agree that it takes a certain breed as you said to enjoy that type of work. But the scheduling for Monday through Friday is good because that leaves weekends free! Thanks for posting — I’m going to repost on Facebook. I’ve been doing reviewing a lot of phone jobs lately and this is one I’ve never heard of that I’m sure a lot of people would be interested in.

I am not a fan of the jobs where you must stick to a script. I know it is important in that line of work for legal reasons….but it makes the job very very difficult. Most people think it makes it easier…just read a script and be done…but they dont realize how many questions you are asked by the caller that there is no script for…or when the script makes no sense for the situation and you caller gets upset. I believe it is for the thick skinned only…but many prefer this type of work.

I must be out of touch. I had never heard of this one, which is odd since they hire in my state. I need to get this one passed around to some of those I know locally looking for work.

I had never heard of it either Angie. Then someone emailed me and asked me what I knew so I did some research. I was shocked that I had never known of this company as it is a good fit for a lot!

I so wish they would hire in my state because I don’t mind the call center/ phone jobs.

me too Deb! It is rare to see one hiring out of Mass

I’ve heard of this company since entering the work at home industry. I’m surprised they can get away with not paying for offline work.
I was involved in a class action suit with my former employer, Geico, for doing just that. And after 3 years, Geico settled the case. Current and former employees were paid for all offline time.

I agree Rona! I think a few of their business practices do not line up with their ’employee’ status. That was one thing that disturbed me…no benefits, only paid for training if you complete 24 hours of work time, not paid for offline time…at some point the government may step in and make them comply…Or they should just hire IC’s….

I read that any business with over 50 employees must offer health insurance…CLC claims to have over 200…either they are breaking the law or they have found one of many loop holes…

Okay, so I have been working with CLC, Inc. for a little over two months. And the HR department has went in and changed my time card twice now. They do not pay if their telephone system is having problems, but require you to stay on your computer while they are fixing them. The training pay says it is $10/hr, but they actually pay a flat rate of $42.50 for the entire training time. Most of the people you have contact with are very friendly, but it is very difficult to actually get ahold of the correct person if you are having a problem or a complaint. I am actually looking to switch positions, I have an interview with Talk2Rep on Thursday, so we will see how it goes!

I thought that everyone might be interested in what happend with me and CLC. I have a few emails that I have copied and pasted:)

“Hello.
May I please have CLC’s complete business name, owner’s name, business address (city, state, and zip), telephone number, and the owners home adress as well as telephone number? I also would like to verify that CLC is not in bankruptcy. Thank you very much for your time.”

I asked for this info to file a wage claim form with CLC.

“Hi Jenifer,
>
> 1. Most of the information you are requesting is available to the
> public via the company’s website. http://www.customloyal.com (under
> about us & contact us).
>
> 2. The rest of the information you are asking for is not public.
>
> 3. May we ask why you requesting this information? Is there a legal
> issue or concern that we need to be aware of?”

This is the response I received.

“I am needing this information in order to fill out a wage claim form for
> CLC, Inc. While, I do enjoy working for the company, I have had many
> deputes regarding payroll. Lori Holt has went in and changed my personal
> Trax timecard on four different occassions without my permission. She
> claims that I was not logged into Vicidail, but was logged into Trax. I
> spoke with Claye during this last incident on Thursday, September 1st, and
> asked her several questions. I asked Claye if there have ever been any
> accidents where Vici dial messes up, if there have ever been any occassions
> when an employee is not loggedf in, but Vici dail says that we are. Or if
> there has ever been an occassion when an employee is logged in and working
> as they are supposed to, but Vici dail is saying that they are in the
> disposition screen. And, of course Claye’s response was that, yes, Vici
> dail messes up quite often. I asked Claye then, if there was not a
> possibility that Vici dail was telling them that I was logged out, when I
> was actually logged in. She of course said, no, that is not possible. I
> believe she is wrong. I asked Claye to please send me recording showing
> that I was not logged in and dailing during the time in question. She was
> unable to provide me with this proof.
>
> As I said, this is not the first, but the fourth occassion when I worked,
> but did not receive compensation for the time that I worked. That does not
> even include, the time that all of CLC’s employees spend checking emails,
> responding to emails, and talking on the phone with their team leader or one
> of our other superirors. This also doesn’t include the $10.00 per hour
> employees were told they would recieve during training; not the $42.50 that
> we were paid. I work very hard, I am a very honest person, and have never
> had this sort of dispute, therefore I expect to be paid while I work hard
> for CLC as well.
>
> As, I said, I am filing a wage claim form in the amout of $82.75. To
> complete the form, I need more information, that no one has to this date
> provided me with.”

So here is my response.

“I do not agree with your analysis nor have we done anything illegal. I
will be personally looking into our current process and policies
because of your statements. I have been made aware that your last day
with us is sept 16th, I prefer we end our relationship amicably so I
have arrange to have the $82.75 paid to you ASAP.

We hate losing good people and we wish you well on your next endeavor.”

I guess I got fired……

Hey guys…thought I would give you an update for this company…my husband works here, and just got this email:

All Customer Loyalty Concepts Employees,

These are very difficult economic times and CLC was not spared. Even with the reduction of staff and restructured leadership roles we cannot continue as a company with the reduced revenues we are receiving. Our clients plan to cut these revenues even further in the future so CLC is no longer a financially viable company.

With great regret, after 17 years we must cease doing business effective the evening of December 9. What this means is that your last day of working is 12/9/11. Everyone will continue to work their regular scheduled shift and have their same responsibilities during this two week window which we negotiated with our clients They have concurred ONLY as long as the hours worked and the production performance goals are met. They will cease to send us leads immediately if we cannot meet their needs.

I know this is hard for all of us but you need to keep focused on your current work. This will help you remain employed during this transition period. We will continue to watch performance and we want to keep everyone employed for as long as we have work.

Please make sure you have updated your address in Shared HR and have copies of any other information such as check stubs saved or printed. You access will be removed by September 12. W2’s for 2011 will be sent by our payroll company.

**** in HR and myself will continue to support you during this time. Please make sure all your contact information is updated with HR as your year end W2 forms will be mailed. You will receive your final pay in the same manner as before.
I know many of you will have questions. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Miranda Grimm
