Having a furry canine companion is rewarding for so many reasons.

But in addition to being there to love you and be your best friend, a dog can also help you make money with a side hustle.

In fact, with a little creativity, you could turn your love for dogs (yes, even your dog) into a full-time job.

These ideas are some of the most paw-tastic ways to earn cash with your furry friend by your side.

How to Make Money with Your Dog

Take Dog-Focused Surveys

Companies in the dog industry often reach out to market research companies to learn what dog owners want and need in pet products, like dog food and toys.

Market research companies usually find out this information by conducting surveys for customers to complete with their opinions.

You can find these surveys by joining survey panels, which pay you to share your opinions on things that matter most to you!

As far as we know, there are no dog-specific market research panels.

However, when you sign up for these survey sites, you’ll have to complete an initial questionnaire to indicate your interests and household information, like how many pets you have.

By doing this, you’ll tell the survey panel what types of surveys are best to send you based on your interests and demographics.

Since you’re a dog owner, you’ll be one of the first to be asked to answer dog-focused surveys!

Here are a few of the highest-paying survey sites to join:

Breed Your Dog

This isn’t necessarily a tactic I suggest for making continuous money because you don’t want to turn your dog into nothing more than a breeder.

However, it is a legitimate way to get cash for the adorable puppies your dog makes if you’d like them to have a litter or two before getting spayed or neutered.

Breeding is a lot of work though.

Pinecone Research, a leading name in online survey panel honesty, absolutely guarantees $3 cash for every survey you complete!

You need to make sure both parents are in excellent health and you should have the pregnancy monitored closely by a veterinarian to ensure the puppies’ health and safety.

You’ll also need a vet involved when the puppies are born to make sure they and mama are okay.

Afterwards, the pups will need all their initial shots and deworming, so there will be several costs involved for you before the dogs are ready to go to their new homes.

Purebred dogs who are registered tend to make more money than mixes or unregistered dogs, so keep this in mind if you’re looking into this option for your pooch.

Become a Dog Sitter

Being a dog sitter is probably one of the most fun jobs you could ask for, especially if you’re a dog lover.

Just like babysitting, dog sitting will require you to go to the owner’s home and care for the dog while they’re away.

That includes feeding, walking, and possibly bathing or grooming the dog and giving them medications.

Some owners hire sitters while they’re at work, especially if they have a new puppy who hasn’t yet learned the rules of the home.

Others might need a longer-term sitter for vacations or business trips.

Depending on how long you’re needed, you might get hired by the hour, by the day, or by the week for a set price.

You can look in the local newspaper, on Craigslist, or on PetSitter.com to find gigs.

However, you’ll need to make sure it’s okay if your furry friend comes along too!

Use Walking Apps

Rover and Wag! are two apps that have gained a lot of popularity over the last few years because they help dog enthusiasts find new pups to walk around town.

You can earn $20 to $25 an hour with these apps, especially if you live in a city or town with lots of dog-walking opportunities.

After you’ve signed up with one of the services, you can use the app to connect with dog owners in your area to start walking their dogs.

You’ll get feedback after you’re done and can get paid directly through the app.

Become an Uber for Dogs

There are some dog owners who need to bring their dog to an appointment or a dog park but don’t necessarily have the means to do it themselves.

They might be elderly or have no transportation of their own.

You might step in and become an Uber, of sorts, for dogs and their owners.

Transport them to their veterinarian, the dog sitter, or their groomer to help out the owners.

This likely won’t turn into a full-time business, but it could become a profitable side gig.

Enter Dog Competitions and Shows

If your dog possesses certain talents, skills, or physical attributes, you can consider participating in dog competitions and shows.

These events can include obedience trials, agility competitions, conformation shows, or specialized events for specific breeds or skills like dock diving or flyball.

By training your dog and showcasing their abilities, you can potentially win prize money, sponsorships, or gain recognition for breeding purposes if your dog is a champion.

Become a Therapy Dog Team

Therapy dogs are trained to provide comfort, support, and companionship to individuals in various settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, or rehabilitation centers.

As a therapy dog team, you and your dog can volunteer your time and services to these institutions.

Some organizations might even compensate therapy dog teams for their services.

This can be a fulfilling way to make money while making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Create and Sell Dog-related Products

If you are creative and enjoy crafting or designing, you can leverage your skills to create dog-related products.

Earn Everything… nearly!

This can include handmade dog accessories like bandanas, collars, or leashes, as well as custom dog toys, personalized dog tags, or even dog-themed artwork.

You can sell your products through online platforms like Etsy, set up your own website, or participate in local craft fairs and pet expos.

With the right marketing and quality products, you can generate income while catering to fellow dog lovers.

Sell Photos of Your Dog

You can absolutely make money taking pictures of dogs and cats and selling them to people looking for them.

Go on any stock photo site and you’ll easily find several photos of dogs, cats, and other pets and animals.

Bloggers might use these photos to put in their blog posts or social media posts, but others might also use the pictures for DIY projects, printables, and other creative things.

If you want a quick and simple way to sell your photos right from your phone, you can try Foap.

The app lets you place photos up for sale that are already on your phone.

Others can buy and download them, leaving you with commission.

You might be able to earn more, though, by selling your photos to stock photo website, like Getty Images and Shutterstock, especially if you use professional equipment to snap your pooch.

Blog About Your Dog

What better way to bring in some money with your dog by your side than simply writing about your pup, what they do, and what they love?

You can start a blog that’s all about your canine friend, sharing personal stories or helpful advice to other dog owners.

You probably already know that a blog can make you money if you use the right tactics.

Adding things like affiliate links to dog products you love or strategically placed ads related to the doggie industry can help you start making money on your blog.

You can also promote other dog-related stuff you do on your blog, like eBooks, your photography, or even your dog walking service.

If your blog gains enough traffic and has a solid, engaged audience, you might be able to work with brands in the dog industry for sponsored posts that can bring in a lot of money.

Write for Other Dog Sites

Maybe owning a blog isn’t quite your thing.

Some people just aren’t into the whole techie aspect of having a blog and keeping it updated.

If you still want to write about your pup and all things dogs, you can still do that without a blog…you’ll just need to find some other blogs or sites to write for!

In the freelance writing world, pet-related content is huge.

You’ll often see clients posting on job boards looking for writers for their dog-focused website.

People love their pets and want to read whatever information they can get their hands on!

You could make money by finding sites that pay writers for their guest posts or as a regular contributor.

Usually, a Google search with something like, “dog blog guest post” will turn up some leads.

Put Your Pup on Social Media

Maybe blogging isn’t your thing, but social media is.

In that case, put your pup on Instagram!

There are actually a lot of dog-stagram accounts that are doing quite well.

These dogs (well, their owners) get paid to advertise products, services, and companies.

In fact, a lot of dog social media accounts have more followers than human ones, so it’s a completely viable option for you to turn your fave pup into a star.

Make Your Dog a YouTube Star

YouTube is another option!

Once you reach a certain number of subscribers, you can start making money on YouTube.

That’s why more and more people are starting to go the video route instead of blogging, which can be a rather slow process in comparison.

Check out Boo, the world’s cutest dog, for example.

He has his own YouTube channel and has celebrity fans like the Kardashians.

His channel is all about his life and what he does every day, while just being ridiculously adorable.

So, it’s 100% possible for your furry friend to become a star on YouTube, too.

Paint Your Pup

Combine your love of painting with your love for your adorable pooch and you could have a winning combination on your hands.

Grab the paint brushes and start painting portraits of your dog.

If you have a good enough talent, you’ll probably be able to find buyers locally, or you can put your creations up on eBay or Etsy.

Especially with purebred dogs, it’s likely that your pup looks like someone else’s who’d willingly pay for a portrait that resembles their own.

Voila – money made!

Get Your Dog into Acting

Dogs with big personalities (which are most of them) and excellent training can possibly get into acting on the big screen or in commercials.

You can check out ProjectCasting.com to see if there’s anything that fits your pup’s skills!

Use Your Dog as a Doggie Clothing Model

Along similar lines is a clothing model for dog clothing.

Dog clothing brands need real models to try on their stuff for commercials, photos, advertising, and more.

Your beautiful pooch might be just the right kind of dog they’re looking for.

Take Your Dog with You to Scoop Poop

Did you know that people actually get paid to scoop dog poop?

It doesn’t sound like a wonderful business idea for most, but think about some of the benefits:

  • It pays well.
  • You get to be outside a lot.
  • You can probably bring your pup along with you if she’s well-trained.

So, think of it as outdoor bonding time for you and your dog that you’re getting paid for!

Have Your Dog Test Custom Dog Furniture

Several dog owners look for furniture for their dogs, from doggie beds to special stairs and cabinets that enclose food dishes.

If building or sewing is your thing, you could make excellent money creating custom furniture for furry friends around the neighborhood.

You can also put them up for sale online on places like Etsy, eBay, or Craigslist.

Have Fido Taste-Test Dog Treats

Do you have baking skills and no what it takes to feed dogs healthy treats?

Maybe baking dog treats instead of human treats can be your next money-making venture!

Your pup can always be the go-to taste-tester for everything you make to ensure that the flavors you put into your treats are palatable for canine pals.

If you do decide to turn it into a business, you can even count on your dog to help you out with marketing and branding.

Start a Puppy Podcast

Talking about your dog a lot sounds like a blast, right?

And it’s probably something you do anyway with your family and friends!

Why not start a podcast that’s catered toward other dog lovers?

You can share about your own pup adventures while sharing practical, helpful advice to your audience that also loves dogs.

Podcasts can bring in money through sponsorships, but you can also use your podcast to advertise other stuff you’re doing, whether it’s selling dog photos or making your pup a star on YouTube.

Turn Your Pup into a Cash Dog!

A well-trained dog can be so much more than a companion.

The above ideas are incredible ways to make money with your cooperative pooch by your side as you work!

Not only can he help you make money, but he might also become the star of the show raking in cash you’d only expect celebrities to make.

It’s time for your canine companion to shine with a career that’s fun for the both of you.

Keep it as a side gig or turn it into a full-time job; the choice is yours and you and your pup are guaranteed to have fun either way.

please remove your advise about Breeding your dog! 250,000 healthy dogs are killed each year due to over supply! Shelters are over crowded already! Love your dog, simple

Thank you for NOT breeding your dog! There are thousands of unwanted dogs put down every day. We need responsible owners to take care of the pups that are already here, not create a bigger problem.

Bad advice to breed dog to make money. There’s so many dogs in the shelters waiting to be euthanized.
