QuickTate / iDictate No Experience Needed

Updated on: by Amy Kennedy

Quicktate is a fun way to make some extra money. Agents can log in whenever they want and receive audio files such as voicemail recordings to transcribe into text. Because no transcription experience or certification is needed, it makes for a great way to earn some experience and possibly move into the world of transcription/dictation. However, like many other online jobs that require little to no experience, the pay at quicktate is fairly low.

The Quicktate site claims:

Quicktate typists are paid based on the number of words they type, at the rate of 1/4 (one-fourth) US cent per word. So, if you typed 50 words per minute (assuming there were enough jobs to keep you typing for the entire hour), then you would probably earn about $5.00-$7.00 per hour.

However, I type at an average speed of 70 wpm, as a beginner at Quicktate I say I average more like $3-$4 with steady back to back audio files available. When audio files are hit and miss the hourly rate would drop. So, please consider the low rate before applying. Also, this is not dependable as work is not steady.

Additionally, after some time at Quicktate, if you have proven your ability, you may be offered a position with their sister company, iDictate. Agents working for iDictate receive twice the pay of a Quicktate agent.  Both companies pay via paypal twice a month!

Quicktate is something enjoyable to do and makes a nice filler between other projects. It is nice to keep a variety as to not fall into a work-at-home rut. I find anytime I become bored with the work I am doing…I make less money. So keep things moving with fresh side jobs like Quicktate in between those steady money makers!

Having applied months ago, I actually just got in with Quicktate a few days ago. I value your information here on your blog; so of course, I had to read your info about Quicktate to see if it would be worth it for me to go ahead with their setup process. Once again, you offer sound advice. I will be using this as a filler gig when there are no titles in my work desk at Demand Media Studios. Thanks Miranda!

So glad you read the review! Quicktate is something loved by so many people. It is a lot of fun and would really make a great egg if there were more consistent files coming through. Enjoy your time with Quicktate though! like you said, nice filler.
