Stop Wasting My Time

If you hit that Contact Me Button on the left side of my page, without first reading through at least a dozen articles on my blog, I will never respond.

Do not waste my time. It is very valuable to me. The minute I spend opening and reading your email is a minute less spent with my children.

I will not hand you a job, I will not work your job and I will not waste my time any longer.

Where has the respect gone?

I tell you, blogs like mine are here as a service to the public. When I realized there were so many options and ways to make money from home, it changed my life. I wanted to share it with the world because it was so hard for me to find at the time.

But now, the respect for the hard work it takes to find and land a home based job seems to be out the window.

I get sick to my stomach every time I read a forum post of people whining and complaining about being treated like just another home based worker. Well, to be blunt…you ARE just another home based worker and most likely there are hundreds of people willing and waiting to take your place. So suck it up buttercup and be glad for what you have.

I am also tired of everyone thinking a work at home job will be handed over to them. If you can’t do the work it takes to find a a home based job then what makes you or anyone else think you can do the work for the job?

You don’t have me or anyone else fooled.

And the galls of some of you!! I have found many complaints about the fact blogs like mine make money. Are you Serious!? Do you think I want to spend HOURS a week on this site for nothing in return? You should be thankful blogs like this don’t charge you at the door. Be glad for this abundance of information compiled together for you to easily sift through for FREE. If you are offended to the fact you will see ads or that I share a referral link when I can then you may not want to hang out here. Those ads are what makes all of this possible and allows you the freedom to browse mine and the other writers brain’s for free.

This is the product of hundreds of hours of research and time spent between myself and the dedicated WAHA writers. Β Treat it with the respect it deserves puh-lease.

Okay, got that out of my system!! Even though I know the people I am referring to will never read this post anyway. That Contact Me button was too glaring- they clicked on it before ever reading the first sentence! πŸ™‚

In all reality we truly all need to slow down a little. We live in a Microwave time and expect instant results. But if you learn to have patience, respect and some dedication I promise you ANYTHING is possible! It really is that simple. Work for what you want and you will be successful.

I am tremendously thankful to you readers. I would not be in this position in my life without you. I am noodling over some ideas on how to give back to you and will be sure to share with you what I come up with soon.

Thanks for helping others and making WAHA a community!

Miranda, you’re so awesome. I agree that you cannot share knowledge with someone who is not willing to do the work themselves. I’ve had SO many people ask me about working at home and about my income. It’s been a slow process. I remember when making 100$ extra dollars a month was amazing. I’m so thankful for blogs like this because without you, I would not be where I am today.

Thanks for putting us all in our place, Miranda. I love ya!

Well, you already know I can relate πŸ™‚ Well said!

I know a lot of people think that the ads and referral things are annoying, but they’ve got to understand this is the *only* way we can see a return on our efforts! No question you and your writers put a lot into this and have done a great job. Work at Home Adventures is wealth of info and valuable resources for people looking to work at home.

Miranda, you are soo freaking admired! By who? By me! lol. I respect you in all aspects that you do. You’re heart is one that I truly wish I had. Who gives a flying f*ck what haters do? That’s why they’re haters and the only respect they’ll get is the dust from the devils hoof. πŸ™‚ So many moms and just women in general love what you do for us and what you stand for that the love there outways all the other bullsh*t going on. Smile!! I don’t know you (and don’t call me weird…lol) but I love ya! Hope this makes you feel better.

Wow. I’ve never visited your site before, I came across the link shared from another work at home blog that I read occasionally. In reading your post, I can clearly see that you’re frustrated with the interactions you’ve had with some of the people that visit your blog. I can also see how frustrating it would be, for those people to contact you, expecting you to do the legwork that they should themselves be doing or to comment negatively about any funds you receive as a result of your blog. I’m a blogger too and I know that the compensation received through ads or referrals is appropriate, because as a blogger, you’re putting in the hours to get the information out there.

I definitely would have addressed the issue myself, but I just wanted to offer you a different perspective on the issue. When this is the first post that I see upon visiting a blog, it’s easy to take it (the tone) out of context and might cause a person who had just discovered the blog to not return.

Thank you for that perspective Mel! It is always difficult to address issues or be blunt. Hopefully any new readers arent scared off to far πŸ™‚ Thanks for commenting and stopping in!

Well said! I fully agree with you.

I have to say, I love your site and all the effort you put in really shows! I have many friends now, because of the economy, are looking to make extra money to help them get by. I often search your site and make suggestions to them and send them links to your wonderful reviews. The serious ones always tell me how great they found this site and now how after some work are making the extra money they need. The others, well, they just want everything handed to them and haven’t done a thing. As they keep complaining, I have to keep reminding myself, you can never help those who will not help themselves.

Thank-you for doing all of this, please ignore the time wasters and be very proud of all you have accomplished here. Please keep up the great work!

Thank you Steve! I totally agree. You can quickly see who takes it seriously and who is looking for a quick dime. I appreciate you referring your friends to the site!

Well said… honey, you read my mind!! It is so annoying to get emails asking: “what jobs are hiring”, “where can I find non-phone jobs” and “I’m looking for a job, can you tell me where to look”. Like really?

It takes HOURS and DAYS and WEEKS and MONTHS to put some of the stuff you have together. People should appreciate your efforts and understand that research is only the preliminary process of the actual result. They see the finished product, but behind the scenes, there was tons of hours invested to produce what they see. Trust me, I know.

And as far as the advertisements, give me a break! Posting advertisements, referrals and links is a more ethical way of earning money rather than a asking for a subscription and/or membership fee. Your site is well worth an access fee and MOST sites that have this level of quality require payment before you can even see any kind of jobs or articles. We should be doing the happy dance that someone has a heart to give us this information absolutely free.

The money is NOT coming out of the visitor’s pocket and the ads are not distracting or overwhelming so I don’t understand why it should be an issue.

You have been blessed with a skill to put together a great website, provide a wealth of resourceful information and offer a high level of knowledge to help others become successful working from home – yet offer it for free… they should be MORE than grateful and have no complaints!

You deserve way more than what you put out. Shame of those who don’t feel the same!!

Miranda Grimm

February 24, 2012 at 12:39 pm

Thank you Shanae. Most of my frustration toward the monetization has been collected from other bloggers and their experiences as well. Hard to imagine why people take issue.

Thanks for the comments Shanae!!

Haha, I especially agree with the paying at the door response. This blog is fantastic, and I have literally found my WAH job on here. I just started coming here recently, and found a job within a few days, that’s pretty amazing.

Before this blog I visited flexjobs and just searched other random articles for applying at WAH jobs, and came here and found a few more with one of them being the job I just landed.

Thank you for offering such a fantastic site πŸ™‚

I know I can just hear the whine in the No FAAAAIIIIRRRR πŸ™‚ hahahahahahahaha

I think what gets under my skin is that I wrote an article several weeks back about a piece RatRaceRebellion did on Phone Sex Operating Jobs. I stated in the begninning that I would not link to any of the sites or provide information on them. But I did link to the RRR post that does. But yet STILL to this day I am getting emails daily asking me for more information about PSO jobs or addressing me as though I am the one hiring…they literally could not have even glanced around before hitting the contact me button!! So frustrating. Unfortunately those people will never see this post :(…But from now on, instead of ignoring them- I will send them a link to this article! hahahaha

Miranda, I agree. If a person cannot make the effort to look for work, would they make the effort to work the WAH job if they got it. Working at home is WORK.

Also, there is nothing wrong with using ads to make money for your time or offset the cost of your web hosting. I know a lot of expenses go into just maintaining a WAH business.

Go, go girl!

Miranda Grimm

February 26, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Yes you hit that one perfectly Leisa! Work at home is WORK. It is harder work in my experiences. I used to just have to worry about being at work on time and only taking an hour for my lunch break. As long as I showed up and did my time, I was paid.

Working from home gives us a MUCH GREATER level of accountability. If someone cannot step up to make it work on their own, without relying on anyone will either have to step it up and shape up or they will fail.

I wish I could tell the world Working at Home is as easy society makes it seem. I wish I could say I clicked around the web a few times a day and I am making 60k a year. But I cant and I am here to break the news, working at home is HARD, hard to find a job, hard to keep a job and hard to work the job!

Lisa Mills

February 24, 2012 at 6:16 pm

So glad someone finally said it. I don’t mind helping someone who clearly has read through my site and needs some additional information. But I get emails in my box every day from people who just want me to find them a work-at-home job. I think they’d like me to apply for them and write up a resume, if I would.

And while yes, we do make money off the ads on our sites, it comes nowhere near compensating us for the time we spend searching down job leads and writing them up.

Thanks, Miranda! I needed that! πŸ™‚

Miranda Grimm

February 26, 2012 at 6:02 pm

Thanks Lisa, I know it is something that has been festering in my mind for quite a while. I have been mentally collecting my own stories and other blogger’s stories. This is the sad reality of a major problem in the WAH field. I am happy to address the issue! πŸ™‚ Just glad it is not the majority of people!

Miranda, you are doing a wonderful job with this blog and I’m sorry that not everyone appreciates it as they should.
I’ve been reading through your website for only a month or so, and although I have not yet found a job, I have applied to many thanks to your information. I know it’s only a matter of time before I have my dream job, and I will owe it to you for the most part.
Up until January, I only knew about Search Engine Evaluation and Online Tutoring as work at home jobs, at least here in Mexico. But after I started coming here, I’m still amazed at all the variety of jobs you can do from home. Thanks for everything, and please don’t let just a few people discourage you. There are many more of us who really appreciate what you do.

Miranda Grimm

February 26, 2012 at 6:03 pm

Thank you Sandra! I won’t let those few, and you are right, they are only a few here and there, get me down. But I am glad to address the issue openly. I know I am not the only one dealing with it, I also know its not just a blogger thing. Most people who work from home have all their friends asking for help and they deal with the same thing too. Thanks so much for commenting and letting me know you have found value here!

Eddy Salomon

February 25, 2012 at 11:15 am

Amen!
I totally agree and sympathize with all your feelings. It amazes how lazy people have become. Here we are as bloggers doing all this hard work in researching and writing the reviews. And all folks need to do is READ and take action.

But even that is too much for some people. Then these folks run around calling everything a scam or claim they can’t land anything.

It’s very annoying to say the least. Then the audacity to get mad at us because we make money is just crazy. They can come to our sites to learn how to make money but God forbid we want to make money too.

Fortunately most people aren’t like this. But the few that are can really ruin ones’s day.

Great post!

Miranda Grimm

Sweetheart Miranda this is what you can expect from some people. Sad as it it, that’s the way things are. They want something for nothing in all aspects of their lives. You have done such an amazing job on your blog, i’m proud to read it and come here. I’ve sent some people to the blog as well. You aren’t going to please everyone. The trolls (this is the nicest non potty mouth word I have for them) can go complain and take a well deserved HIKE!!!!! I don’t blame you one bit mama. I feel so blessed to know there are folks in this world like you who are willing to share what they know in an effort to bless others. If it wasn’t for your hard work, dedication and tenacity Miranda you would not be where you are. I could not have said this better myself. We’ve turned into a society of non working free loaders who no longer take responsibility for themselves and well being. I don’t understand it. Frankly it’s far too stupid for me to know why. Even the HOLY BIBLE tells you if you don’t work you don’t eat.

As for the ads…what website doesn’t have ads and ? I can’t watch a youtube video without an ad. I can’t watch an online show without an ad. TV ads need I go on…REALLY?!?! This is an issue? It’s pathetic. You are a GOD SEND Miranda am proud of you and the work you have done continue to DO YOU to the best of your abilities. You have a devote base of people who understand and fully well know what you’ve done here on your site. WE Β¦ U!!!! (((cyber hugs from GA))))

I had to stop caring what anyone else thought a long time ago. Having been in the WAH field for the better part of 10 years I have seen it all. Every time I visit a WAH forum I see countless people sharing and caring. Then, I see even more coming in and just trying to take what others have worked so hard to get. A couple of years ago I decided that I would share my 2 cents here and there but I was no longer going to give people a handout. Where were those people years ago when I was trying to find my way? I will help but I won’t do the work for you. I will point you in the direction the rest of us go in (which is what you do here) but the rest is up to you. I will not hold your hand and I will not tell you the answers to test, that is up to you. If you want to WAH you have to do the time and learning just like the rest of is. I have made posts like this on both of my websites so you are not alone in your feelings. I am not heartless to those that are desperate for a job. I was there once too. No way to pay for groceries, I lost my car and everything else in a divorce and moved 1000 miles across the states. The only help I got for my WAH business was a job listing here and there and a WAH friend to talk to from time to time. I did the work, I did the time. I expect everyone else to do the same. It is only fair everyone pay their own dues. You will learn a lot from that too. Miranda, you just keep doing what you do and don’t worry about the negativity. We are all bound to have it tossed our way a time or two.

Miranda Grimm

February 26, 2012 at 6:06 pm

I wonder how long it will take for me to let it roll. LOL. I think this post was therapeutic though. And knowing it is not just me dealing with it REALLY helps!!

Hey Jen

February 27, 2012 at 2:39 pm

I’ve been following your blog/facebook and WAHjobleads site for awhile now. I don’t post …like ever, but I read. I can safely say I understand your frustration. You deserve to get paid for what you do. You are providing a service to people FREE OF CHARGE. Some people are just pisspots.

I have been working from home for over 5 years now and every now and again I will hear from friends wanting/needing to find work, but want to work from home. Except they want me to find them jobs for them. Um, hello, there are tons of sites out there that they can look through. I point them in the direction, your sites included and all I ever hear back was how much stuff they have to look through. Then they go on to whine about how they can’t pay their bills and need money. Uhh, HELLO? What information did I just give you? WTF people, I look for my own jobs, I think you can look for your own. I’m not here to hold anyone’s hand. You either want to work or you don’t. I don’t want to hear about your money problems when you can’t even be bothered to spend an hour or two a day looking through job postings, but you can spend 12 hours on facebook posting song lyrics that you HAD to search high and low for.

Okay, so I’m just gonna step down off my bitch box now…

So hey! I appreciate you and all the work you do along with all the other gals with sites similar to yours! πŸ˜€

Hi Miranda– Just found you today while looking for reviews about Scripted….and I am so glad I did. Your post made me truly laugh out loud…my husband just looked at me like I was crazy! My blog is similar to yours, but focused more on writing– and I cannot tell you how many people ask me how to get started, or where to find work—–DUH!
Read one or two of the 200 or so posts on the blog maybe?? Honestly, working online is not difficult, but it seems that quite a few people just cannot grasp the idea of finding work sites, applying for the jobs, and then doing the work that someone will pay you for! If people cannot “get it” without hand holding, then it really does not matter how much we help them….because I don’t, and I’m sure you don’t, have time to hold their hands constantly.

Krystle

February 28, 2012 at 5:17 pm

You go girl! Some people just don’t have the dedication to go out and figure things out on their own. They act like our websites aren’t a resource for them. They just want things handed over on a silver plater that says do this and this and this. Personally, I love researching. Maybe it’s my psychology degree talking but I think it’s fun! Who doesn’t love solving a good mystery? Plus it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you do something.

I have a test for people who ask me about WAH stuff: I send them here. There is more than enough information here to get someone started, and if they can’t search through it, they probably don’t have the dedication it takes.
