After learning that I had been let go from TQA at Demand Media, I was blown away by all of the support you all showed me! Many of you left kind words, let me know I was not alone in my experience and even offered to help me find work to get going again! There was no way I could stay down long with the mass of people offering a hand to help me back up. I want to say THANK YOU! All of you!

As a blogger, it can be easy to feel alone, hard to remember there are ‘real’ people on the receiving end of this tangled network. How blessed am I to have so many friends and great connections!

I wanted to be sure to follow-up with all of you and let you know where I am now.

moneyI did apply with Leapforce and I got the job! I cannot express how much I love the work at Leapforce! However, I have learned it is very difficult to do with my girls around. Unlike TQA, I can’t just stop to run my two-year old off to the potty and come back to work. You must track your time and considering I can’t sit for more than 10 minutes at a time, I have reserved working with Leapforce for the evenings (when I am not doing homework). But I do LOVE the job!!

moneyI was also accepted by Fancy Hands as a virtual assistant. This is a fun job to have! Their busy clients post tasks they need completed and I can pick and choose which tasks to accept. There are lots of different types of tasks that keep this job interesting.  This is not really a full-time job though, the tasks do run out and sometimes there is nothing posted I find worth my time. The pay is decent, averaging around $3-4 a task, but some of the tasks would take hours to complete! (I avoid those tasks!) Some take only 10 minutes! (Those are the ones I try to grab!). When no one wants to pick up the low paying tasks, there is the ability to ‘make an offer’. So, you can say what the task would be worth for your time! I love this about Fancy Hands! Although Fancy Hands is not a main money-making job, it is my favorite side gig by far!

moneyOf course I am still blogging ;). Blogging has been a great way for me to bring in some extra cash as well. Although I had never put my main focus on earning from the blogs I write, I have begun to put more work into that part of blogging. If I could make a living from doing this- I would be thrilled! So, I have been planning to guest posts to help bring in some new traffic to my sites and have learned more about keyword researching. Between Google Adsense, Infolinks and paid supporters- I am happy with my $300 a month- especially knowing as my sites grow, the earnings follow.

moneyFinally, I have been doing a lot of design work! I design Headers, Badges, Facebook Icons and now Facebook Fan Welcome Pages! I do not really advertise this much yet, but I am still managing a fair amount of work! Many of these tasks I have taken on free of charge, in exchange for their help when I do begin advertising- it also gives me some experience and work to display in my portfolio. I am working on designing some Facebook Fan Pages right now to use as sample work for a company currently hiring Fan Page Designers! I will be sure to let you all know how that goes for me!

So, I am doing absolutely fantastic! Thank you all for rallying behind me and supporting me! I cannot tell you how much you all mean to me! You have helped make Work at Home Adventures a success, given me encouragement and picked me up when I was down. Thank You!!!

Yes! You are absolutely right! I liked TQA for the steady pay I was receiving and how flexible it was for having small kids, but I love this new path because the work is so fitting for me!!

Well, the Facebook fan page you did for me is wonderful! If that’s any indication, you’ll soon have people beating down your doors to design for them!

Hi Miranda,
Sorry about the loss of work, but you were meant for bigger and better things. You are so talented and I have no doubt that you will do well with the graphic design along with continued excellent work with your sites(they will grow and grow). Congrats on Leapforce!

I’m sorry your lost your job. May I ask, did they give a reason (you don’t have to say what it was) or give you a warning ahead of time, or was it sudden?

I work in titling too, and it’s a good reminder that it can end at any time!

I am happy that you have found a new job! As others have said, you are definately an inspiration to all of us. This work at home business is not easy, especially when you are just starting and trying to get your foot in the door, it can be very frusterating at times. When I get frusterated, I log onto your blog because it is so encouraging to know that everyone goes through the same obsticles to get started!
