I applied for this position back last March and never heard a word back. It would be nice at least if I got a yay or nay, because I remember doing this transcription test and it took quite a while. It would just be nice if I got a response saying, “great we got your test, thanks.” but maybe that’s just me being too ideal.
Same here, Dave. It’s not just you. I applied with them quite some time ago, and I, too, haven’t heard anything from them. I don’t think you’re being too idealistic. The whole process of teling applicants they didn’t meet requirements should be pretty automated anyway.
The template took quite a while to get right — I had to make sure all my columns were correctly aligned — so the very least they could do is respond with a “Yes, you passed,” or “Sorry, nice try.”
This same thing happened to me. I am looking forward to hearing back from the company and never received a response. I was thinking about contacting the company to voice my concern with having people do the “test” for free. Maybe they get people to do the test for free transcription work which would be horrible.
Dave, it has been 10 days since your post stating you have not heard from 1-800-Type-It-Up. Have you heard from them yet? Did you need special software & hardware accessories to do the test?
Can you tell us what kind of deadlines they have for each assignment and if they’re realistic?
Kelsey Sunstrum, as the author of this article, where are you getting your information from that this company is legitimate and has actually hired transcriptionists? They charge to take their test: $10. If people are not hearing back from them at all, and there appears to be no reviews by employees for them at all, then this does not appear to be a legitimate company.
i paid the $10 and never heard back from them. i applied one month ago.
I applied and got accepted. Totally worth it! They do get back to you.
Brandon, that great news! Please keep us updated on how it’s going for you!
According to their site, this company charges the $10 application fee AND charges an additional (minimum) of $39 just to even process your exam! Absolutely absurd, and definitely not interested in working with them!
The entrance exam to apply for this job is mandatory and costs $59 non-refundable.
