Here at Work at Home Adventures, we introduce you to all kinds of work at home jobs, from phone jobs to non-phone jobs and everything in between.
One of the jobs we mention a lot is an agent position with Televated.
Televated has been one of the most popular companies to provide work from home jobs for several years, as it provides agents with the ability to do live chat and email support work.
This type of work is extremely popular with moms, especially, who want to work from home but can’t do phone work because their kids are usually with them in the home.
I recently went to check out Televated again to update our review from 2012, which is quite outdated now as companies tend to change and grow through the years.
Unfortunately, I found that Televated’s website is no longer a working website.
A Google search shows that Televated’s site may have been hacked, but there’s nothing confirming this.
Visiting the website only brings up a blank page, so it’s unclear what happened to it or if the company is even still in operation.
Regardless, I’m unable to give you an updated Televated jobs review at this time.
For now, we are going to keep the old review up so that you can learn more about the company and its careers should its website come back.
If it does, we will be sure to update our review here with the most recent information about the company’s positions, application process, pay, and more.

Televated offers outsourced call center solutions to small and mid-sized businesses throughout the United States.
These services include inbound calling, outbound calling, live chat, and email response. They are categorized in what is referred to as BPO (Business Process Outsourcing).
Televated hires virtual assistants to work as independent contractors to provide these services to their clients.
While Televated does serve a variety of clients and industries, it seems that many of them are in the higher education (college, university) profession.
What do Virtual Assistants who work for Televated do?
When you accept a position at Televated, you will be providing either inbound call services, outbound call services, live chat or email response.
These positions may also include data entry work, surveys, and lead generation in addition to the time spent talking on the phone or answering email. Data entry can sometimes be a separate service too.
Anyone who has ever done phone work knows that it does require a certain amount of typing in addition to talking and building rapport with the customer.
Each program (client) works differently and with different requirements.
Some of the programs require a sales quota (2 leads per hour) or metrics and some do not. Many times newly hired agents are given a choice between two clients.
Equipment Requirements for Televated?
You will need High-speed Internet and either Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows Vista. You will also need a dedicated line and noise canceling headsets for your phone.
Either a hardwired PC or laptop is fine.
You don’t want to have background noise. You will need an area of the house where you can close the door and work uninterrupted.
Televated does use a predictive dialing software (can’t mention it here), which doesn’t work for certain Comcast users.
However, Televated can show you how to work around that or with a better solution. All of that will be covered in training.
No prior call center experience is necessary, but it is preferred.
What is the Schedule like at Televated?
Depending upon the calls and clients, the schedule will vary.
Agents are not always allowed to pick their own schedules rather than they are assigned the schedule needed.
For outbound the schedule is usually (not always) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. MST or the evening shift is from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. MST. For inbound it will vary, but be close to these two schedules.
The pay averages around $8 an hour is paid by the minute and tracked to the nearest minute.
There are incentives of $.50 an hour if your work all of your hours plus there are also incentives for most programs. Additional hours are also available on Saturday, if interested.
Saturdays are not mandatory.
Training is unpaid time, and you are considered an independent contractor.
The pay schedule is 5th and 20th of each month via PayPal. Obviously, if you don’t already have a PayPal account you will need to set one up.
My Overall Impression of Televated
I have heard from a few VAs on WAHM.com and WorkPlaceLikeHome.com who are enjoying the calls and have good things to say about the company and people.
They said the calls weren’t “hard” and the programs with metrics were not unrealistic to reach. It was overall a “low stress” job.
One problem, which did come up, was agents were complaining about not getting paid on time. Televated did apologize for the inconvenience, since it had recently switched from mailing paper checks to paying with PayPal.
I thought that was noble of Televated to apologize publicly and address the issue.
Televated also has an online presence at WorkPlaceLikeHome.com and seems very receptive to questions and complaints.

If you work with three different clients at a time, for example, you could be working with several different products and services which can help keep things varied and interesting for you.
You must be able to work between 20 and 40 hours per week and have a typing speed of at least 65 WPM to apply.
Support.com is another company that provides various support solutions to its clients, including phone-based, chat-based, and email-based support.
The company is also a leader in offering awesome benefits for its employees, including tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, paid life insurance, health and dental insurance benefits, and a referral bonus program.
Agents for Support.com are given comprehensive training and all the tools and materials they’ll need to succeed in their jobs from their home office.
Although the pay isn’t listed on the site, many reports say that you can make somewhere between $9 and $15 per hour, on average, depending on the programs and the clients you’re working with.
Concentrix, formerly known as Convergys, looks for work at home agents like you to provide various types of support for its clients to help them bridge the gap with customers.
The company has different types of support roles in sales, service, and technical support.
All roles include full training, retirement plans, bonuses and other incentives for performance, paid time off, and career-building opportunities.
Not all of the positions Concentrix offers are home-based jobs, but many of them are depending on clients and their needs.
When you visit the Careers page, be sure to look for jobs that are listed as home-based or virtual.
LiveOps is a company that provides cloud-based contact center and customer service solutions.
As an agent with LiveOps, you could work from home, providing customer service, sales, insurance claims, technical support, or healthcare services, depending on your chosen area of specialization.
LiveOps contracts with independent agents rather than traditional employees, providing you with an opportunity to have a more flexible schedule.

Sykes is a global business process outsourcing (BPO) company that offers a variety of remote customer service jobs.
Positions range from customer service to technical support roles.

If you don’t want to get stuck in a traditional employee-employer relationship and role, then Upwork might be a better choice for you.
This site lists freelance gigs rather than traditional work positions, so it’s a good place for self-employed freelancers to find flexible work.
You can browse the support positions you’re interested in after creating a profile that outlines your customer service and support skills.
Send along a proposal and some information about you and your skills in your cover letter for the client to see.
The client will get to select from all the applications sent from a job to find the person they want to work with.
Upwork uses an escrow payment system that can help protect both parties when it comes to payment so you can ensure you get paid for your hard work.
You can even use the site’s built-in time tracker to track the time you work for each client.
